Before producing or performing any play, you must obtain production rights. Production royalties will vary and must be negotiated with the playwright or the playwright's agent. As a general guide, the royalty for school and non professional productions is $100 per performance (+GST) or 10% of gross box office receipts, whichever is the greater.

Some playscripts include music or sound recordings. Producers are advised to contact the Australian Performing Rights Association (APRA) for information on music licensing requirements.
